How we do it
Overview
At our Primary School, we offer a rich and dynamic learning experience that is carefully tailored to meet the needs of every child. Below are some of the key elements of our approach:
- Small Class Sizes: We limit our class sizes to an average of 20 students, ensuring each child receives personalised attention.
- Active Teaching Methods: Our teaching approach is hands-on and engaging, encouraging children to participate actively in their learning process.
- Individualised Learning: We use differentiated pedagogy, as well as extra teachers for support, meaning we adapt our teaching methods to the individual needs of each child, ensuring every student can learn at their own pace.
- Early Language Workshops (P1-P2): Our “Éveil aux langues” workshops focus on linguistic and cultural discovery. These sessions are co taught by the class teacher and a native English-speaking teacher, promoting early language learning.
- Physical Education and Swimming: Physical activity is a key part of our curriculum, with regular physical education classes and swimming lessons to promote healthy lifestyles.
- Ethics and Citizenship: We offer lessons in non-denominational ethics and Education in Philosophy and Citizenship (E.P.C.), helping children develop critical thinking and moral understanding.
- Music and Arts: Our music and arts workshops are designed to align with school projects and class themes, fostering creativity and expression.
- English Workshops: We offer tailored English workshops for both native speakers and second-language learners, ensuring that all students progress in their language abilities.
- Access to Digital Tools: Our students benefit from the integration of digital tools, enhancing their learning experience and preparing them for the digital world.
- Links with families: Throughout the year, the team and pupils work together to create events that bring families together and welcome our families: Christmas musical, exhibitions, picnics, Open Classes, School Fête, etc.
- Openness to nature: We practise outdoor schooling, and develop places conducive to discovery and learning, such as the pond and the vegetable garden.
- Talent: All our pupils have a talent, and we are committed to enabling everyone to discover, develop and showcase their talent.
Our aim is to create a well-rounded educational experience that nurtures academic, personal, and social development.
Structure
Our 13 primary classes welcome between 18 and 22 students, an ideal size to ensure individualised support and high-quality attention.
Each class is led by a main teacher, often supported by a co-teacher or a specialist in personalised learning.
This structure allows us to meet each child’s individual needs, strengthen the bond of trust with teaching staff, and foster a positive, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment.
Team spirit and peer support are nurtured from the earliest years through a buddy system between P1 and P6 students, cross-class projects, and regular opportunities for collaboration throughout the school year.
This caring and structured setting promotes autonomy, mutual respect, and the joy of learning together.

Ready for Secondary
At Le Verseau International School, each pupil is prepared for entry into secondary school with rigour and kindness, thanks to an innovative teaching approach centred on research, synthesis and critical thinking. From Primary 5 onwards, we work closely with the secondary section to ensure a smooth transition: visits to the premises, immersion in the classroom, meetings between teachers and exchanges between pupils. As a result, our pupils develop solid working methods, greater autonomy and the confidence to take on the future challenges.
